problem straight away.
Getting started
Add each player with a name and jersey number.
Tap EDIT on a player, then PICK SONG.
Choose an audio file from Files, iCloud Drive or Google Drive, or pick a
song from your Apple Music library.
Set START to where the song should begin, as m:ss, and
PLAY to how many seconds to play.
Drag the ≡ handle to reorder the batting order.
A song will not play
Most often one of these:
Apple Music needs an active subscription. This is an Apple
requirement and the app cannot work around it. Songs you import as files
play without one.
The song streams instead of being downloaded. Open the
Apple Music app, add it to your library and download it, then pick it again
in Walkup Music. Before a game, Settings → Check Songs for Game
Day lists songs that aren't in your library, and those players are
marked NEEDS SIGNAL. It can't spot a song that is in your
library but not yet downloaded. Apple Music's Downloaded
list shows exactly what will play offline.
The song left your library. If a song is removed from your
Apple Music library, the app tells you the queue did not update. Pick the
song again to fix it.
Songs go quiet at the field
Ballfields often have poor signal. For anything you truly cannot risk, import
the audio file instead of using Apple Music — files stored in the app need no
connection at all. Apple Music tracks work offline too, but only once they have
been downloaded in the Apple Music app.
Choosing a song from a playlist
Tap PICK SONG then APPLE MUSIC. The picker
opens on your playlists; tap one to see its songs. SEARCH ALL
searches your whole library by song or artist instead. If a song you just added
in Apple Music is missing, tap ↻ REFRESH.
Running more than one team
Open Settings (the gear, top right) and use
+ ADD TEAM. Each team keeps its own lineup, name and colours.
Once you have more than one, tabs appear under the team name for switching
between them.
Sharing a lineup
Tap Share and choose how to send the team:
Show QR Code: the other coach points their iPhone's
Camera app at your screen and taps the Walkup Music link. No signal needed.
If it won't scan, turn your screen brightness up.
Send Team File: send it by email or AirDrop, and the
other coach taps the file and chooses Open in Walkup
Music. Files can't be opened from Messages. If one arrives that
way, save it to Files and use Import → Open a Team File.
Send Lineup as Text: a readable lineup that can also be
pasted into IMPORT LINEUP.
Names, numbers, timings and colours transfer. Songs are matched to the same
song in the other coach's own Apple Music library. Any that aren't there, and
audio files you imported yourself, need picking on their phone. Sending the
same team again updates their copy instead of adding a duplicate.
Your data
Everything stays on your phone. There are no accounts and nothing is uploaded.
Deleting the app removes your lineups and any audio you imported, so share the
lineup to yourself first if you want a copy. See the
privacy policy for detail.
